Yea, never going to happen

Google search for this forum is very good, but it gets overlooked a lot. People won't even scroll a couple of pages to make sure.

If its a story worth posting, chances are its been posted already. Just check! While I'm sure the mods have no problem doing it, lets not food them with more than they already have to deal with. They shouldn't need to step in and merge/lock/move all the time.

This.

How many reposts did we have of that "SHOCKING review with Nvidia GTX 970 engineer"?

It wasn't even that funny.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

What makes you think people will look at this then?

People want to be first and don't even look for older posts.

Not really. Besides this won't do that much. Those who repost won't read this.

I feel like a part of the issue is refreshes as well. When posting a normal post under a thread, you may see it update. But you wanna finish your thought and then post it or what not. Only to realize that it was already answered 5 times while you were writing your post.

I think this is what happens a lot, especially for news. Since the post (especially articles and news) might be large in size, once news comes out, multiple people are writing on the same thing. It's basically a race to who can get it out first.

I don't think posters are gonna stop half way and check if it was already posted. It would be a good habit, to let's say open another tab, refresh etc.

But meh. *shrugs*

The chance is repost stopping is the same chance that people will stop pirating.

Changes nothing. Many people don't visit every section so this topic will reach maybe 100 people and all of those do post properly.

To stop reposts there would have to be a system which would automatically check the topic title before its posted and notify the OP about search results the system has found for him before the topic is posted.

And even then small percentage of people would ignore it and post anyway because that's how careless some topic creators are :(

I suggest a ban for 24hrs to post any new topics for people who repost. Or make something like "u repost 3 times" and u are banned for creating topics for a week as an punishment...

That and more than half of the forum uses Night theme, and everyone can't be bothered to install a script to get google search option , as of now , the night theme doesn't have a google search

Theres a box in the upper left that lets you search via Google. If you can't even do that, don't bother posting in Tech News in the first place.

I beg to differ, there's nothing in the top Left, or Right for that matter.

I've never been known for my sense of direction

ok both of you, Google search has been removed from the night theme until IPb4 update, the only way to add it back is if you follow colnel_mortis's script

LTT Search Box Redirector/Re-adder

Developer: colonel_mortis

Status: Unofficial

Download Link: https://monkeyguts.c..._raw.php?id=260

More info: https://monkeyguts.com/code.php?id=260

Development stage: Released, bug fixes only

Adds a search box to the forum, allowing you to search the forum using Google.

NOTE: This script does nothing in the new Day Theme 3.0 because it has been implemented by default.
