here are min and recommended settings:  http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=786&game=Heroes%20of%20Newerth

you could easily max it out with a $500-600 build

If you don't plan on overclocking your CPU you don't need a Z97 board.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

The MoBo is just the 'hub' of the computer. Though arguably just as important making the right MoBo choice as with the CPU & GPU for gaming; the way you asked that question I think you need to do a little more research if you're thinking of installing it yourself.. Just my opinion.

The main 2 components of a PC that alter game performance the most are what I mentioned above, the processor and video card. The better the motherboard, the more features & whatnot, and also has an effect on how good the overclock is - for more gaming increase.

But, again, whether you get a $50 motherboard (that your components actually support) or a $175 one - without any other changes, you won't get much of any gain in performance or anything else besides on-board motherboard features/connects, etc.

UPDATE: Ok, so now after reading some of your responses I'm a little confused. Do you have a full parts list to share with us?? We can help much better with the more details and information you provide. The more we know the better the answer.

the only nvidia gpu you can get for $200 is the gtx 960, and the r9 290 is alot better than it. feel free to replace the cpu with an i5 or i3 if your'e on a budget

hell internet cafes here in my country can run HoN with a dual core and a cheap GPU. If you can get a X4 860k, 8GB of RAM and a R9 270 you're golden(in 1080p).

My Current PC Codename: Scrapper

get a 285 for 4k. and maybe find a freesync enabled monitor just in case you dip below 60fps. :) What's your budget and current build? I can make like a mock up build that you can use as a reference on what you need to get. :)

Nope, motherboard has to post first. You need your CPU, RAM, and... possibly a hard drive. Some motherboards can only post the first time if they detect a hard drive to boot from, but once you do it the first time you can boot to the BIOS with no problem. In any case, you can't update the BIOS without the CPU because the CPU is the hub of the motherboard. Without it, the mobo can do diddly squat, because the CPU governs all activities on the motherboard. To update the BIOS, you must at the very least have a posted motherboard with an internet connection.

The only way I see it being possible is if you have a socketed BIOS chip. You could remove it and replace it with another one with the update, but to be honest you'd be wasting your time and money. Just wait for the CPU to arrive. You shouldn't have any problems anyway.

Great build mate! I see nothing wrong with it, only a preferential change here & there that I'd make, but not much in the way of performance gains (or if so, then negligible)

And yes, the GTX 970 would kick major butt here, not just HON. That's exactly the card I would choose for that build. (EVGA's, to be exact)

Simply put: No.
