replacing a keyswitch

Acerpwns

So i posted this yesterday but apparently it got deleted. (Or too dumb to find it)

The number 5 switch on my home row transformed from a MX Blue to a (lighter) MX Brown (theres still tactile feedback but no click). Is there a (preferably safe) way (without voiding the warranty) to switch out the switch?

its would be the second time i RMA the thing, last time it was because after 2 weeks (got i back 2 weeks ago) the switch broke(number 4 on the nunpad)

They also kept it for almost a month and i cant stay another month without a keyboard.

Wouldn't risk anything, just send it back and get them to replace it, chances are it should be free as mechanical keys are mean't to be "abused".

really? what keyboard is it? maybe go back to the store you bought it from and request an exchange for a new board as yours keeps going faulty?

Or get the manufacturer to replace it entirely with a complaint that it keeps going wrong

tampering with it will void your warranty

Acerpwns did you have to pay to have it shipped to the company or did they cover it?  If you are doing this a 2nd time and RMA is out of pocket I can see your frustration and I don't think companies should be able to get away with this crap.  It isn't like their entire line breaks.  They should be covering all of or part of the RMA cost.  As for what you can do in this situation in regards to replacing a key switch I honestly don't know anything about that.  Sorry.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

if the switches are plate mounted you'd have to desolder every single switch to replace one, just RMA it.

its the CM Storm Mech, i initially planned on getting the K70 RGB with MX Blues but then i heard they arent making them so....

I really like it tho, its comfortable imo and i love the white backlighting. Any other good keyboards with white backlighting? (Use drako.it please)

@Charger and @TheProfosist seem to know how to dismantle and re-undismantle keyboards quite well :)

yea and charger was already here :P

-snip-

yep just 4 joints the pop the clips on the switch that snap it top the plate. The hardest parts going to be desoldering the LED completely.
