First Water Cooled Build - Opinions Please?

Hey all,

Im in the middle of planning my next build, and for what i am planning it will need to be water cooled, Not only for perfromance but to cut down on noise levels as well.

So i am here to ask the question, Custom loop or Closed Loop? Set up isn't an issue as i have enough experiance with building other Pc's and i look forward to the challange the custom loop presents. However, i am still tossing up wheather or not i can justify the extra cost for the performance i will recieve.

With the build costing me around $6,800 including a Corsair Hydro H110i GT + Shipping and a budget of about $7000 NZD give or take i am left feeling a tad lost for options.

So i am here asking for your guys knowledge! Anything you can pass on to me eg. Which parts i should look at for a starting point (as i will expand in the future), Prices, Performance, Why to choose either set up etc. will be much appreciated and used to make my decision in the future.

Plan Build so far:

Case: Cooler Master Cosmos II (Black) - $549.95

Optical Drive: LG BH16NS40 - $131.95

Graphics Cards: EVGA GeForce GTX980 FTW ACX 2.0 - 2x $986.11

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO Series 500GB - $382.95

HDD: WD Red 64MB 2TB - $148.17

Motherboard: Asus X99-Deluxe - $669.00

CPU: Intel Core i7 Extreme 5960X 3.0 GHz Socket 2011-3 - $1516.85

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 1200W - $466.85

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 PC19200/2400MHZ 4x8GB - $638.83

Cooling: Corsair Hydro H110i GT - $289.99

8
Total Cost: $6,766.76

Some key things about custom cooling:

  1. Cooling and noise performance will be improved (if done correctly).
  2. Price will be increased, substantially.
  3. Building the  PC will be infinitely more enjoyable, especially if you have built enough PCs that you can make one with your eyes closed
  4. It's not as hard as it may seem at first. Remember how confusing buying matching PC components was at the beginning? Same with custom loops. Seems like a ridiculous number of choices at first, but in reality there isn't

If you have the funding, and time, I highly recommend you jump and give custom water cooling a go; I promise you'll become hooked
