Does anyone know where to download a trustworthy windows 7 iso?

Hello

Due to some mistakes I made during the installation I ended up with a Windows installation that is dependent from a HDD that I have to move back to an other pc (Forum thread: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/315432-windows-7-installed-on-ssd-needs-to-be-booted-up-from-hdd/ )

They suggested me there to use the windows repair tool. Simple, no? Nope, not for me. Since I had windows preinstalled I used the key on the side of the pc and as consequence I had to download the iso. I was able to. Or at least the second try xD. The first try was the 32-bit version (I noticed that only when I tried to install teamspeak 64-bit ^^).

Well, why don't you use the usb-drive again? Yeah, if everything was that simple... A colleague wanted me to install win8 and gave me the installation"device". Since I had only one usb-drive, he used that one with win7 on it.

When I needed the iso recently I thought "Probably I have the iso somewhere on the drives". I searched the whole computer and found some ISOs one of wich was A windows 7 iso. I wrote "A" because (how you can imagine) that iso was the 32-bit one (I think that's why the repair-tool doesn't work).

I thought "I could download it again from the same link I used at the time I first installed Winsdows", but how could it elsewise be: the Link didn't work/was broken.

Ok, then do some research: all links lead to the same site:

"wow, a official download from the windows site"... yeah:

So now I'm stuck with a version of windows that is dependent from a HDD that I need to move, and I have a Windows 7 key, but no ISO and a windows 8 ISO but no windows 8 key, so I can't neither repair windows nor reinstall it. Windows 8 isn't an option too.

I would be deeply grateful if somebody could help me out of this mess

I'm looking forward for your help :)

Is your machine pre-built, or did you build it?

If its pre-built you need to contact the manufacturer and get a Windows recovery disk, or look inside the box your PC came in.

What version of windows 7 do you need?(home premium, Professional, Ultimate, starter)

I have installed a Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium (italian), but since I need only the repair tool and the cmd I think I can use every edition.

(and from the last installation I know that you have to delete the ei.cfg file in order to get all versions)

The old pc (which HDD I'm using now, and which HDD I have to move back) was prebuilt, but this one I'm using right now is custom built

Ah, so yeah you have to contact the manufacturer about a recovery disk, because they pre-installed Windows on that HDD you took out of the old machine.

I found a box with instructions ect. and a documentation dvd. I still have to look inside the box, but I think that's everything.

I'll add what I've found to this post

Content of the box: unfortunately only dust :/

Umm, get a copy from Microsoft... Why would you not go to the designer for the software?

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

It has completed 14% of the download... I think I'm going to try everything tomorrow. I hope this is the solution :)

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know where you can pick up an English Win 7 pro iso now that DigitalRiver doesn't provide them?

Preferably not a torrent.
