Can I use a Samsung Tablet as a GPS in offline mode?

FluffiestPond

I'm planning on buying a Samsung Tablet 4, and I was wondering if it's possible to use it as a GPS. But the issue is network coverage is super super bad around here so it's not really possible to use a network. So is it possible to use it as a GPS offline?

I know you can pre-cache maps from Google, but it seems you can only cover a small area, and I'm unsure if it's turn by turn GPS or not.

I was kind of hoping to be able to put in Point A and Point B, download using Wi-Fi, get in my car and be able to get Turn by Turn navigation in offline mode.

I'm in the UK in-case that makes any difference.

You can get apps that have the entire map stored, so you dont have to pre-cache (just fyi)

I believe the GPS will work without connection the internet is only used to download map data

something like this?

technically yes. As long as your maps are precached it should be fine (I know my iphone works this way, regional australia, and connection sucks out here) What you may run into issues with is when your ideal route isn't the same as your GPS provider's you'll hope you still have connection when you make the turnoff.

you can get turn by turn in offline mode, but recalculating if you stray from the given path may not work properly, and definitely won't work if the area isn't cached, in which you'd have to find your own way back to the selected path.

Any device with Google account can be track now. Even it is turn off. The moment you search on google. It collects the SSID ip address you'll appear on the google map. Which you can see yourself or the hacker that wants to.

That first one (MapFactor) looks awesome, does it work without connections?

So on the spec list, GPS / Glonass is enough to work it?

You can get maps apps on Google Play, and GPS will work without any connection.
