Hanging Monitor On Wall

adelfhetler

Hi, I was just wondering if there are any tools for me to hang my monitor on the wall without tools that require drilling into the wall?

I actually want to mount my monitor onto my new bed+desk combined ; basically just this http://www.hiddenbed.com/gallery/splendid/.

My monitor is the BenQ 2455hm

Not really. There's nothing to support the weight of the monitor without drilling into the wall.

You can get desk mounts that clamp to the back of the desk, but for a wall, you'd have to drill.

If this picture is correct, the monitor should support a VESA mount. This means that you could buy a VESA wall mount.

You would have to mount to a wall however. Wood won't support the weight of the monitor.

oh okay. my "wall" is actually the wooden part that supports my mattress. will drilling some holes for my monitor weaken it?

just wondering, are VESA mounts all the same size so when I change my monitor I could fit in another VESA mount for my new monitor?

There are different sizes, which can vary based on the manufacture and the size of the monitor.

But most are either 100mm x 100mm or 75mm x 75mm

Yes vesa mounts are a standard size.

When you mount anything on wall that might have any actual weight. raw plugs are not your friends (they are better for friction, but will pull out under load).... Dynabolts are your friends.....

No. You'd have to consider the mounting options (Typically, monitors will use the 100mm or 75mm spacing) as well as the weight it supports and the size. You'd be better off buying a good quality mount so that it will support any future monitors.

VESA mounts aren't completely standard. Some mounts will only have 100mm spacing, so 75mm monitors won't fit.

Sorry let me rephrase. Vesa is a standard system of mounting. There are different standards within it however....Pretty sure you can find an adapter to convert to different standards however.

Have a look at Duronic's range. They're not as expensive as Ergotron, but they're still good quality.

I personally use a spring wall mount with two arms for my 28" monitor (right on the weight limit of the mount)

Another option is LCD TV wall mounts. I know sony has used the vesa standard on all their TV's for the last 5 years.

I have that except it's the dual arm version. It's very good. Holds both my monitors and attaches to my desk.

Very good arm.

wait so that thing drills into the desk?

No it clamps onto the desk. No tools and no drilling.

Sheesh! Just get the right size wall mount for your monitor. They can be found for as little as $20 US.(I have one for $20 holding a 55" LG). Articulating arm mounts will cost more. But you will have to drill. No it won't weaken your bed frame. Just follow the directions that come with it.
