Headphones for $200

Go to solution Solved by habowh43,

As people have previously mentioned, the K7XX are a great choice. But you should also consider the A50X, DT990 Pro and DT 770 Pro (make sure these last two are the Pro spec, you'll probably find the other versions sound signature a bit flat)
If you like your bass without the sound being muddy, also consider the BeyerDynamics DT990 Pro 250 Ohms. You can get them around the 200 mark if you search around a little bit (I got mine for 180$) and boy do these babies know bass. They sound absolutely lovely with detailed, precise bass and crystal clear highs. They're also ridiculously comfy and light thanks to their plastic and aluminium construction. The only downside I'd say is that the highs are so precise that they can get a little fatiguing after listening to loud music for a while.

The DT770 Pros are closed unlike the 990s and the K7XX but that will give you a little bit more bass and more "dynamic" sounding. They can be found for less than 200$ online.

And do I even need to explain why I'm talking about the M50X? I mean, heck, you can even replace the cable if you're the type of person to break this kind of stuff like me :P

If I had to pick, I find the DT990 Pro strike the perfect balance of bass and neutral response so that the music doesn't sound dull nor muddy. The M50X have a little bit too much bass I find and I haven't tried either the DT770 Pro and the K7XX (I have tried the K701 and I find it sounds a bit dull so I'm assuming since the K7XX has more bass, that would fix the main gripe I had with it BUUUUUUT that's always a question of personal taste. :D

Hope this helps!

So I am looking for a set of headphones for gaming and listening to music. I mostly listen to dubstep, electro, house and a few other genres. So in short, I'm looking for a set of headphones with superb bass good mids and highs and work great for gaming (need to hear those footsteps yo) and impressiveness. I currently have Sennheiser momentum's (on ear varient) and  I'm looking at the AKG k7xx massdrop edition headphones but is the bass better or worse on the AKG's  compared to the momentum's or is there a better option than the AKG's?

I suspect you'll like the K7XX, mostly because they should be hard to dislike. It is impossible to tell you whether you'll like them more or less than your MOE's.
