Best dual gpus for dual/triple monitor?

What is the best option for dual/triple monitor gaming? Is it two r9 290x 8GB or the two 970? Will the over double amount of vram make a difference at 1440p or is it wasted? The last question is wether it is worth waiting for AMD's release of 3xx and when it is.

Keep in mind dx12 scales VRAM so 4GB+4GB=8GB. We don't have to deal with 4+4=4 with dx12 games.

At least that's my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong.

Budget is around 800$

save up and get a 295x2 or w8 for the 3xx series if you like to play the games that suck dick on nvidia go with 2 970s

295X if you can get a good deal on that. Dual GTX 980's is a bit out of the budget but would be the ideal solution.
