Is distortion on digital audio more of an issue than that of analog audio

What do you mean? Either is undesirable.

Transducers (the things that make the noise) have orders of magnitude more distortion than anything else in the signal chain.

Analog mediums like vinyl and tape do generally have higher noise floor and various other limitations if that is what you are referring to.

Digital audio still got converted to analog signal to be able to make headphone or speaker produce sounds. So any distortions are there because of analog signal, not digital signal.

Digital distortion is when you have 0.1 and 0.9's instead of 0 and 1's.

Distortion can become apparent when a song is poorly produced in the studio as was talked about here.

My PC specifications are in my profile.
