Looking for a temporary air cooler.

acidydragon

I'm in the process of trying to watercool my computer, but I still need a res, tubing, and fittings, and I only have about $50 right now, and it might be some time before I have much more to contribute to the project.

I'm looking for a cheap air cooler to suffice between now and then. $50 USD is my target budget. I know for a while everyone recommended the Evo 212, is that still the case?

What is the best ~$50 or less cooler on the market?

Case: Lian Li PC011-D - CPU: 3900x - GPU: 2080ti Reference - Mobo: Gigabyte - Ram: Corsair 4x16gb 3200MHz - SSD: 2TB Samsung Evo NVME

If you don't plan to OC at the moment, use back the stock cooler? Well, at least you will be $50 closer to water cooling in the future if you use back the stock cooler.

I'm currently overclocked, on the stock cooler. It's just too loud for my liking, it's doing a fine job outside of the noise side.

Why don't you just buy a used cooler?

That would require finding one.

Oh I see. At least now I have a better picture on what you trying to say. Pardon me, I'm still kind of new to all this.

In that case, how soon do you think you can save up for water cooling? 1 month? 3 months? If it's like only 1 or 2 months, just bear with the noise for the time being. If you are going like 6 - 9 months or so to save up, then just buy Hyper 212 EVO 1st. If you can't even bear with the noise for 1 - 2 months, then maybe make it back to stock speed 1st so that it won't be so noisy. :P

Just my 2 cents.

I flipped back to stock speeds, but for now it's really only a minor fix. The CPU does run about 10 degrees cooler, but what I do with it makes it work pretty hard pretty often, so the cooler still ramps.

I'm going to try to find the parts I need left, on the forums used/left over, try to save a few bucks, and maybe, just maybe, watercool within the month.

If it's within a month or 2, I will advise just wait till water cool instead of getting another air cooler. :)
