Separate from the Galaxy Unpacked thread to keep clutter down and due to different subject matter. Special thanks to Victorious Secret for the source.

 

Pictures are HUGE so spoilers needed and warning to 56K or mobile data users. The new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have new camera sensors backed with F/1.9 aperture lens, their new real-time HDR technology, as well as new low-light mode. All three of these features present on both the rear and front cameras.

 

They look absolutely stunning, but whether these pictures are a set-up or not, I'll leave that up to you to decide :)

Not that impressive.

Also Apple is so going to sue them on the look of the metal frame.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P

Looks like a load of post processing going on there, either by the device or in photoshop, but I'd like to see how it actually performs in day to day photos.

I don't have any problem with them post processing the photos. They gave us the pro mode in the camera so that we can do the same (hooray for raw). Studio lighting is a bit cheating but let's be honest, all phone and camera manufacturers are guilty of taking photos in optimal scenarios.

It's best to not trust photos from the manufacturer *cough* Nokia using a DSLR and pretending like it's the phone camera *cought*.

If those shots are from the S6 then we can at least expect to be able to take good photos if we are willing to spend the time post processing it

I call bullshit. If it's true, then I'm EXTREMELY impressed. 

 

But not even my SLR has that kind of sharpness at that kind of ISO at that kind of darkness (last pic).

 

At 100% crop, I retract my statment. Not great, but still amazing for such a small sensor  especially considering how small the pixels are as it's 16mp

Srsly ? $ 1000 for a phone ?? .

$1300 for the edge ??..

I can get an MSI with gtx 965m for the price of the edge ..

And an Asus rog g551 for the normal version ...

And I've had terrible experience with Samsung

looks decent. No real depth of field, but it is to be expected from a phones camera. The low light performance does not look to great either.

Where did you get those prices from? Samsung hasn't announced official pricing yet and rumors are saying everything from 700 to 1000 dollars.

Not sure why you are comparing laptops to phones.

I dont know what terrible experience you had before, but I still think it is stupid to assume that all their future product will be bad and that they will never impress you, just because you had a bad experience with them in the past. Also, I usually just ignore the logo on products so in my eyes you had a bad experience with a a particular product, not the entirety of Samsung.

I'm not sure you know how much the MSI or Asus laptops get destroyed when compared to the S6's camera.........
