Best CPU Cooler?

Tim Drake
Go to solution Solved by dadasmithywinkle,

Should I save up a bit longer for a refurbished H100i? I heard the H100i is loud as hell though...

I wouldnt. If you're gonna save up, get an H105. Otherwise, get the H80i.

I am looking for a CPU cooler that looks good from a window (so looks good too down) with good temps for 4.4ghz and is under £60 (I can go higher but I would prefer not to)

I always wanted an AIO but at this price range they kinda suck compared to air coolers.

I really want a slick looking, quiet build but there is such a massive range of coolers..

Thanks

Darkrock pro 3 or some cryorig stuff looks great.

Or an NZXT Havik, if you can still find one.

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

I was thinking that..

There is a refurbished H80i on scan for £53.

I've bought 3 of the Refub H80i's for client builds and they all run great. Check out my gallery for a couple photos of them :D

Saw you talking about them in a previous post so I have already seen them ;)

Do you know how they run compared to a Hyper 212 EVO? As in volume and temps?

Better than an Evo, but not as good as a 240mm rad. Probably close to the perf of a mid-range Noctua cooler.

What about a H110? Its only £71 and £4 shipping :)

It's nice but outdated. I mean, it's better than the H80i for sure, but the fans are lower quality. If you can get one for cheap, though, like the 75 you mentioned, I'd get it.

My i5 4690K runs really nicely (1.315V) under my Hyper 412S which cost me £28. For Intel CPUs there's no real reason to spend much more than that.

From a looks perspective it's nice too.

So what high end water cooler would you suggest?

The H80i is a steal as a refurb unit and the H110 that you suggested also sounds like a damn good price. Either would be great. I, personally, use and would advise for the H105. It has a thick rad and can beat the H110 in temps.

Unfortunately there is no refurb H105 and the cheapest price is: £86, compared to other prices, it doesn't seem as good.

So it's:

Nepton 140XL: £53

H80i: £58

H100i: £71

H110: £75

Which do you think?

The H110i will have the best performance and the H80i is one of the best deals. If I were buying for my next build, I'd get the H80i, because I have experience with them and they work well. I've heard of issues with the H100i and the H110 was just replaced by the newer H110i GT.

Okay, H80i it is :)

P.S How much more performance will a H100i have over a H80i? And what about volume?

It will have a bit more performance, as it is a 240mm rad. If you're looking at the H100i for 71, just get the H110 for 74 :)
