basicly i need a server that would run minecraft server 24/7. I need it as cheep as posible.

I'm looking for something like that myself too...

I am looking for a small server build... 10 gigs to start, but an option to at least triple that in the future.

OP, my I3 laptop runs any technic like mod pack with 4 people at about 2 gigs used, and about 5-10% usage to get a idea

I have the exact same plan. If you have any old PC parts lying around, use them. I'm doing mine with a Core 2 Quad Q8200 and 4GB of DDR2.

Minimum: i3 and at least 4 GiB of RAM, I'd say 6 bc of the amount of the mods (didn't heard about most of them so I'm assuming worst case scenario). You can get 4 if you run it under linux. Very similar performance to what @Speedbird mentioned

Went with a Gold psu since your going to be 24/7 ing this server. Amd's FX 8 core should perform just as well as a hyperthreaded xeon for less. Heard many people used it fro server builds and it working amazingly. Had enough for ssd to put os in. Plus, mobo comes with built in graphics.

Nice then, I only put a GPU bc E3 1230 v3 doesn't have iGPU, but it's like an i7 :P

but does minecraft realy need an Xeon i think i3 would be enough and i could buy more sturdy mobo and some noctua for quiet operation and durability?
