need help with setting up crossfire

ryjanpugz

Hey guys, my rig originally had a singlr R9 290 but I wanted a little bit more horsepower so I decided that I wanted to do crossfire. I tried getting another R9 290 but all the ones in my area were all sold out (I buy used). So, I decided to buy a reference R9 290x and crossfire it with my 290 since the 290x was the only thing available locally and it wasn't that much more expensive than the going rate for 290s(which are currently unavailable) in my area.

This is my first time doing crossfire so I really need your help!

After installing the cards, I wiped my drivers then reinstalled. After reinstalling the latests AMD drivers, I still can't see the Crossfire option in the Catalyst Control Center. I opened Device Manager and the PC does recognize both cards.

Any advice on what to do with this?

another note: when I check hardware info on Catalyst Control Center, it lists the second card as a "disabled adapter".
