X99 Ultimate Overkill, for your demanding Minecraft needs

kev507

As a computer tech for TigerDirect I was pretty excited when I got this order in, and knew I had to document the build. This doesn't represent TigerDirect in any way and all that stuff, I just wanted to share this with all of you, bear with me because I've never put together a build log before. Assembly is in progress and photos will follow as I finish editing them. Feel free to request benchmarks or games you want me to test out on the rig, or any other photos you want to see! P.S. if you don't agree with the part selection, it's okay, I didn't pick them soooo just try to appreciate this build for what it is, Ultimate Overkill, for your demanding Minecraft needs

Jesus fucking Christ.

This is way over overkill.

BTW, he didn't forget to buy a BluRay writer/reader...

Does the customer actually want to play Minecraft with this? I don't think it's powerful enough, since it only has a 5960X. You're going to need at least an Asus Z10PE-D8 and Two Haswell Xeon E5 2699 V3s and probably 128GB of memory, especially with Minecraft mods.

Damn ram choregraphy. This is weird that the client wanted 2 r9 295x2 because modern games dont really working with more than 2 gpu except maybe Tomb Raider. Though DirectX 12 is supposed to fix most of these issues and make the scaling job easier on the games devs. If directX 12 is as good as it is said to be, this thing is going to mash every new game at any resolution

I really enjoyed the drive caddies for the Phanteks case, both for the SSD and the HDD's

Note: There was originally a bracket to the right of the motherboard area for covering cables which I had to remove because it caused clearance issues with the GPU's. Also the bottom red panel (essentially 2 120mm mounts) had to be removed as well in order to fit the rads for the graphics cards. Right now I'm pretty thankful that this case is so modular in the way it lets you choose how it works.

With everything installed except the bitfenix fans and CPU cooler, this is how I left her for the night. I used the possible PSU mount as a mount for one of the 120mm rads instead and removed the red floor panel as stated before.
