New budget gaming build

deewhylan

Hey everyone, I plan to build a gaming PC for $850 or less. I want to play most games (even most recent games) at high/max at 720p or 1080p.

Also, I'm not buying any used parts, brand new only. I'm also firm on using an Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU.

This is what I have in mind:

CPU- i5 4460

GPU- GTX 960 (may wait and see if a 4GB is really coming out)

RAM- 8GB (2x 4GB), undecided brand

Mobo- Z97 or H97, undecided brand

PSU- 500/600W, undecided brand (thinking Seasonic)

Case- Undecided

HDD- WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM

Disc Drive- Standard 24x DVD Drive

OS- Windows 10 (once it comes out)

Thoughts? Also, would the i5 bottleneck the GPU?

Thanks,

Dylan

-snip-

i5 Won't bottleneck.

960 is... eh.. a 290/x or 970 would be how you play max at 1080 on the new games.

The projects never end in my line of work.
