So since it uses gas im gonna assume theres some kind of combustion going on in there? Kickstarter video doesn't explain anything about inner workings.

This looks cool, I will wait until it is actually out in the wild before I go off and buy one though.

For those of you that think a battery pack would be better, I am guessing the idea of this is to be ruggard, and to be able to take it on hiking trips where you might not have power for a full week. It also looks like it will be smaller and lighter than a battery pack to do the same job.

Hmm... I'm sure I can do better.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

I believe it's a fuel cell that just uses propane instead of hydrogen. Could be wrong, though. I imagine it's performance will be similar to the hydrogen fuel cell charger Linus already reviewed...in other words, poor.

Interesting product, but EXTREMELY niche.

In 99% of daily, normal, situations, a battery pack is more useful and more practical.

However, for going in areas where you don't have reliable access to power mains (camping, as others have suggested, or as part of a survival kit), then this will find use. However, you still need to have fuel for it to work. And you'll need to carry that fuel with you.

wow, I really don't get all the negativity. How is a battery back that charges devices for weeks with no effort not better than a normal battery back? Same job just less hassle

Wouldn't this thing just be constantly releasing gases near you? Is that even safe?

I prefer this because it doesn't require an specialized fuel.

http://techcrunch.com/2013/09/26/flamestower/

Neither does this. It uses the same butane that 100% of lighters use, available at damn near any shop. It's the EXACT OPPOSITE of 'specialised'

i just thought of the same..we've gone into island hoppings and battery will run out on all devices..but then again, too much gadgets isn't advised when you want to get away into nature..

but for those cam whores on the most remote islands here, this could do well

Depending on power density, I would like to use a few of these to power a robot.

I am conducting some polls regarding your opinion of large technology companies. I would appreciate your response.
