Is Chrome 64-bit any better than Chrome 32-bit in general usage ?

kizoku_95

By general usage I mean like 2-10 tabs open at a given time !

Is the loading times and general performance any better ?

I have no clue since I can't for some reason seem to get chrome 64 to work. It just loads up 32 instead. Welp.

Just tried 64-bit Chrome and there was no performance difference imo !

My RAM usage went up a bit and there was a little stuttering and glitching in Youtube dont know why.

That maybe true, but on my 64 bit system I only get the option of downloading the 32 bit version. Only 64 bit version from Google I can find is a beta.

I actually just found the 64 bit version; you just have to click "download Chrome for another platform", giving you the option of downloading the 64 bit version :)

Go to https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/ and below the "Download Chrome" button you have something like "Download Chrome for another platform", there you can select the 64 bit version =]

I posted too slow, but yeah; found it :)

Wait... if most people use 32-bit Chrome, then why is it known for high RAM usage? 32-bit can't address more than 4GB, right?

@Speedbird, that's why Google choosed for the multi-process approach, you can have multiple process, each one of them limited to 4GB size.

Ah, I forgot about that. I use Firefox. I thought that was just so that if a browser extension or plugin crashes it won't bring down the whole browser.

Firefox is going to implement a multi-process architecture too, you can test it with their nightly builds =]

Awesome, hope it makes it more stable.
