Is chrome safe to use?

cooperb21

Yeah.. I dunno..

It's not that good, but a bit obscure..

If this worries you, you might want to not use Skype too.

And possibly other browsers have it too

I see just kinda worries me that sites have access to it so easily and can track you with it.

the second you load or download something on the internet, or even go on google, your ip is shown to the host / website to send the info to the right place.

I see then i guess your ip means nothing in terms of security if its so easy to get i could just share it with people and posting it.

You'll be fine, but if you're really scared use a VPN like Hotspot Shield or Tunnelbear

As far as IP goes on the internet I wouldnt worry about it, on a console people can grab your IP's and Doss you offline. Apart from that, besides look up your location, there isnt much else they can do with just your IP adress

Dude, any website you visit knows your ip address. That security hole only affects people who use a VPN because it leaks your real IP when on a VPN.

Any browser that  doesnt hide you behind a vpn/proxy will communicate the same info. so unless you want to resort to some incredibly slow browser like tor, i think chrome is safe enough.

Don't think people are grasping which IP is the one being referenced here. In no way should Chrome be displaying your machines internal network address. Tho in reality it's not a big issue unless someone gains access into your network to begin with. Which is done via the IP address assigned by your ISP. Which is displayed publicly no matter where you go unless you're behind a proxy. So don't let it concern you really. Chrome is more secure than pretty much any other browser out there except IE.

Chrome, Firefox and Opera all showed both IP Address. Surprisingly IE did not show either one. Oh well still not going back to IE. :P
