was looking at card reader, but I don't think they deliver to Canada, and MIR ends today.. so....

Be careful of the Kingwin MIR.  I tried to file one and had no luck.  It was for $5 exactly one year ago from Tigerdirect.

I don't even know how the fuck an MIR works, so...

You mail in this paper that asks for a obsessive amount of info for a 6 dollar card and then you have to call and remind them or theyll forget to send it. If you dont call again theyll never send it

MIR can be kind of messy.  Of the few I've participated in I've gotten all prepaid cards that require being used as credit cards.  Basically, if you have a $10.00 card and try to buy something that costs $10.01, you won't be able to make the transaction (even if you have a penny on hand!).  "Free," but by the time I pay postage, time spent messing with it, and time finding items I want to purchase that the card can pay for fully, it's not worth it to me, at least for a $5 or $10 item.

Mail-In-Rebate.  Mail in some documents about your purchase and receive a certain amount of currency in return.

How I handle these cards - go to Walmart (or some other department store I frequent) and buy a store gift card for the exact amount. Also, at most brick and mortar stores, you can use multiple credit cards - just tell them "please use X dollars on this card" and once they have done that, hand them another and say "place the rest on this".
