Being the stubborn PC gamer I was for much of the last generation I never got a chance to play this. But I got a PS4 with this game and it's a damn masterpiece. Easily the best game of last generation in my eyes. If anyone's on the fence about getting a PS4 and hasn't played this yet go and do it.

I played on PS3.

 

People praised how well it looked on PS3 and I did not agree..

The gameplay was a bit boring and I really couldn't get into the story..

 

IMHO not the best last gen game (But I respect your opinion)

I feel a similar way about Forza Horizon 2, simply because solid racing games are scarce.

I bought a PS4 specifically for that game about a week ago... Totally worth it. And now the kids don't mess with my computers. Win-Win.

 

It really was a wonderful game. Beautiful and with a really emotional story. Not the best ever, but it's in my top 25.

Horizon 2 is just meh, to be honest I preferred forza 2/3, dunno perhaps I'm nostalgic about that game(don't judge me I'm fairly young). The thing I loved about the forza games was the tuning and drifting. Hopefully the free fast and furious content will breathe new life into H2. Just want T10 to release a game for PC, I mean they've said in interviews before that they would make a game specific to a platform so I don't see any previous forza games  coming to PC. And now forza motorsport 6 is meant to be xbox one exclusive . I guess it's like half life 3, and halo(on PC). Never going to happen...

Yeah that's why I said in my eyes. The story telling and character development is just so good and there are so many ways to go about every situation. The game is truly terrifying on hard.

Well the graphics were praised because no other game really came close to it in the PS3's lifespan. I mean it was like 7 or 8 year old tech.

It was linear, no doubt. But the story made up for it.

I think GTA V or Black Ops 2 PS3 looked better...

TLOU was 720p on PS3 too..

To each their own. The game is a complete masterpiece and probably one of the best adventure style games ever. Just because a game doesn't give you much in the way of choice shouldn't automatically detract from the quality. The combat is visceral and fun and feels savage. And the acting and animations are spot on. If you go in expecting a bioware sort of game with lots of choices you'll be disappointed but if you go in with the expectation that you're going to experience a damn good story with great atmosphere and some great, challenging combat and some exploration in a very detailed world you'll be in for a treat.

I also thought it was the best game on the system, of the year, probably the best game I have played in years. The story, the characters, the music, the setting, the acting...it was all an experience I cannot forget. After I finished playing I held the controller in my hand and just watched the credits roll, completely forgetting that I had just finished a game with a story that very well deserved every single award and praise it had received, something I usually—personally—only find to be a quality of really well written books. Sure the game play wasn't as impressive as it could have been, but it was still good gameplay.

 

I would definitely call it a master piece. And those who refuse to get into it because it doesn't "look good" (blindness. The game looks beautiful.) you are missing out on a wonderful game that not many can manage to ever create. So I think it is a little sad what a lot of people expect out of games (multiple choices, large explorable maps etc) to qualify it as being good. In being so narrow minded you miss out on a lot of amazing games.

 

When I get a PS4 I am definitely going to repurchase this game. I just hope that the inevitable The Last of Us 2 will not screw up what we were given. That goes for the up coming movie, too. Though I personally do not think we even need a damn movie but whatever.
