How do I know which fans are the loudest?

IMPERIUS

Hi!

I want to make my system a bit more siletn. I currently have the enthoo pro with its 2 stock cooler, the stock Intel cpu cooler and my Sapphire r9 280 with 2 fans.

Thing is that I tried to just listen to individual fans but none stood out in terms of loudness. Is there any way to measure the loudness of the fan with my phone (a reliable app maybe?)

I could also get a new cpu cooler or some more case fans (which MUST be white, preferably from phanteks to match existing ones)

What would you do?

Longboarders/ skaters message me!

You could use app but it would still be relative for your ears. Wjay I would do is open case and disconnect all case fans and remove GPU. If your CPU has iGPU you could even run some stress test to measure/listen just stock cooler. The GPU you can listen as its own so mark down numbers CPU gives out or remember how loud it was. Then connect GPU and listen/measure it. With fans you can just connect them straight to PSU and jump start just PSU to listen them.

But some facts. Stock heatsinks compared to almost any aftermarket are loud. You will have definitely quieter system with just 212 Evo. Some stock case fans are on louder side but most better known are OEM versions of what they sell as aftermarket fans. Entoo is one of those so I don't think you will find much better fans for it. Check on their site what desibels fans run and compare to what other manufacturers have.

GPU is something you can't change that easily. What you can do is create custom fan curve with MSI Afterburner or similar. Run some tests to see when fan speeds stops being deciding factor on temps. For example mine is set to run at max 45% and temps won't go over 75C.
