what cpu is compatible with msi geforce gtx 970

IPhrops

Hello guys,

I want to build a decent gaming rig but i dont know what cpu to choose?

As you can see by the title i want to use the msi geforce gtx 970 Gaming 4g, it has 4gb GDDR5 Memory.

But i don't know what cpu to choose that isn't to expensive (between €200 and €400) but takes full potential of the gpu.

Hope you guys can help me since this is the first pc I'm building on my own.

i5 4690K or i7 4770K?

Do you do streaming or game recording too?

i5-4440/4460 or i5-4690k. i5-4440/4460 are locked meaning they cannot be overclocked, while 4690k is unlocked meaning it can be overclocked and is a bit faster out of the box as well.

i5 4690 (non-K) if not OC'ing

i5 4690K if you do OC'ing.

i7 4790K if streaming/encoding video more than gaming.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

a core i3 will take full potential of any single gpu out there, but you might want an i5 or xeon

Give us:

- A budget for the whole build

Definitly an i5. You could go with the i5-4690k which is damn powerfull, but has also a pretty high price.

If you want to safe some money, then go for a locked i5, like the 4670 with an H97 motherboard

I can't believe i'm about to say this again, but it Does have 4GB of VRAM

If you're being sarcastic just because the other 500MB is just slow, then I'm sorry
