Win 7 is afraid of 8 because 8.1, 10! Wait what?

FloRolf

Weird title is weird.

So i just made a fresh installation of Win7 on my PC and today i got a mail that i could get win 8.1 for free (Uni lyf 4 se win!).

i initially planned to upgrade to win10 when it comes out but now i'm not sure if i should just go with win 8.1 because i can and get 10 later anyways?!

Any ideas? :)

I see no rainy sunday in your forecast so stay with 7 I quess. No real diffrence between 7 and 8.1 if you have 7 already, only if you want to reinstall all your software again.

Windows 8.1 is slimmed down and faster. It works a lot more with UEFI motherboards. It's up to you if you want to spend the time upgrading for better preformance

as long as motherbrain Microsoft is offering a real key, and not some student/msdn key, it sounds good.

Not worth the effort with Win10 coming up soon. That and a Uni license may not be eligible for Win10.

The free Win8.1 from your Uni may be a student license that is not eligible for the free Win10 upgrade.

Although if that's the case you could use your Win7 license to get the upgrade.

Even if it's not upgradable i migh just get win10 free too from Uni or i just buy it because that was the plan anyways.

This is kind of unnecessary... and 10% is actually a pretty big difference.

I'm running Windows 10 at the moment, but because I'm a Beta tester, they're going to pitch me off the bandwagon once they release it into the wild.

It's been pretty good so far.

Why respond to the spampost? Had nothing to do with the first post at all lol. If you installed Win 7 yesterday then personal likeing. 7 is more boring to 8 but it runs hasslefree. 8 gave me more problems in the past.

How was my post spam? Just because you think 10% is something to forget, some people don't agree.

As I said - Uni license may not get the free upgrade to Win10 + don't Uni licenses only last your duration of the time at the Uni?

Nope, they are offering the free upgrade for 1 year, and the upgrade is for life, but after that one year anyone who wants to upgrade has to pay to upgrade.
