Hi,

I'm thinking about setting up my PC with a custom fan controller (like Linus).

Are there any (better) alternatives to Linus's setup?
How was your experience with non-motherboard fan controllers?

IMO there's no substitute for the MOBO...

Why do you need one? How many fans are you running?

The projects never end in my line of work.

I bought one for 30 bucks usd, I consider anything in that price kinda cheap. 6 fan, 3pin controller, 2 of the 6 leds went out. The low setting on the knobs slowed my noctuas past there lowest speed to keep spinning.  Also wasn't strong enough for them to hit 2k rpm. Went back to my mobo, much easier and better in everyway. Keeps me from having to get up and turn all the knobs when ever I wonna play a game.
