Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

Yea all pretty useless stuff. Except the 5$ dust blower.

The sun hood might also be useful.

If all that stuff is so useless - why doesn't it have 1-2 stars mostly? Seems to me that they have their uses - to the right people, those with less experience or need for pro-level equipment.

You do realize that a tremendous amount of amazon reviews are faked or heavily incentivized? Basically they do stuff like give out products for free to customers so they show up as "verified" and ask them for a good review in exchange etc...

That is why you see items with no reviews that nobody ever bought and all of a sudden 1 week later there are 30+ 5 star reviews and the product is now in the most popular category because they time it so that it's all bought around the same time.

The sun hood might also be useful.

A real lens hood uses a different and secure mount, these cheap ones attach to the filter thread which can cause problems and fall off

If you see a "professional" using any of those, then you seriously need to reevaluate your idea of what being a professional means.

Everything in that kit is cheap junk, not to mention there is literally 0 (zero) reason to use a colored filter. There are certain things you just don't bother with as some things are just as easily done in editing as they are when actually shooting (i.e. white balance, filters, etc... -- only polarizing filters can't be added in post processing).

/Theres a reason why the CHEAPEST lens you can buy from Nikon is over $100, and even thats a pretty bad -- entry level kit lens. Decent glass is expensive, and is the last thing you want to be cheap-ing out on.

I don't think that's fair to say. The cleaning kit is decent and the remote shutter is useful (does not work with the D3100 though).

It's a lot cheaper to just buy those two things separately though.
