R9 280 vs 280x

ignito

I've been considering a decent CDN$200 range graphics card and ive settled on an XFX R9 280 or 280x. My question is whether the 280x warrants the extra price, or if i'd be better staying with the 280. I mainly use my pc to watch YouTube videos and for gaming.

I checked some prices and the 280 is about $250, the 280x is about $300+

I'd say it does, they're both very good cards though.

I'd get the 280X - it'll last a bit longer.

Since the 280x is €50+ more expensive than the 280, I'd go for the 280. You can overclock a 280 to make it almost as good as a 280x.

CPU: Core i5 4690k                                                   Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97M                     RAM: 16GB HyperX Fury Red

GPU: RX 580                                                             Storage: Sandisk Ultra II 240GB                  PSU: Seasonic M12II Evo 520W

Case: NZXT S340 red/black                                      Case lighting: NZXT Hue+                          Mouse: Logitech G502

Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper212 Evo                     Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit

If the 280x costs 50$ more than easily get the 280. You would be paying 50$ more for maximum of 15% performance. Not to mention that the 280 is very overclock able and once overclocked it will actually beat a 280x at stock.
