Need help cloning old data to new HDD

Trommenissen
So recently i noticed my old WD 2TB black started making a lot of noise when writing to it. I have had this HDD for close to 4 years i believe so i figured i didnt deem it worthy of protecting my valuable data, so i went ahead and orded a new one.

And it just arrived so now i am looking for a way of making the switch as easy as possible.

I mainly Use the harddrive for secondary storage aswell as big programs which i have dont have room for on my boot drive. I remember from a linus video that he talked about a program that made it really simple for him to just clone a harddrive and then make the switch.

So do anyone know of this "magic" program?

Here is a good program for cloning hard drives:

http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

I think you are referencing the migrate to ssd program for intell SSDs so I don't think you will be able to use that

Btw, you can check if your current WD Black drive is still in warranty, you can also contact our support and arrange RMA. That way you'll have one more fine working drive together with the one you've purchased. :)

Well the drive still works, but after all that time i dont really trust it to keep my data safe(even though i have backups :D)

In other news the cloning operation took just about 4 hours, even though it said it needed 1 hour :D Non the less it was successfull, maybe a little to successfull it cloned it 100% meaning it lowered the volume of the drive to match the last drive meaning my 4TB drive became a 2TB drive. Do anyone know how i can fix this without deleting the content on the drive?

So I managed to extend the volume but only to 1,99TB and i still have like 1,69TB more or something like that D:

But now i cant extend the volume anymore to get rid the last partition of the drive D:

This is how my diskmanagement looks like: EmBOEkT.png

Do anyone know what i could do to fix this ?

Can you use create a second partition in the Unallocated Space?

Just right-click on that space and choose to Create a Partition, then set up the parameters. These should include setting up the choices for the Format operation, also - install the NTFS File System and choose either a Quick or Full Format.

You can try to download some partitioning program and see if you can manage to format your unallocated space.

Also, feel free to contact our support for any additional help:
