Build a desktop with Devils Canyon or wait till Skylake?

I want to build a pc and I'll have the money in a month, is it worth waiting?

What is your current system?

I always advocating building based upon a need. If you want to do something that your current build isn't doing, and you have the budget to fix it, then you do it as soon as you can. However if there's no need, then you don't bother. That's actually why I'm still on an i7-920. I don't actually do anything that is currently limited by my setup. Technology is always marching forward, but it's a slow march. Don't get caught in always waiting for the next biggest thing, because something new is always right around the corner. Likewise, don't always feel pressured to have the latest and greatest, because that's a never ending battle.

Ah I see what you are saying and odds are if I overclock to like 4.5ish ghz it'll be close or so to the new chip even though in real life it doesn't matter

I'm "addicted" to upgrading, so I have gone through 5 systems in the last year but the best idea is to use yours until it is severely wrecking performance.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Heres an alternate build, nothing wrong with yours, I just made it color coordinated, and moved around a little bit of money to make it more cohesive.  If you live near a Microcenter, buy your CPU + mobo in store for a massive discount.

@OP

I'm in the same boat as you.  My current rig consists of a 2500K @ 4.4, 16gb 1600 Corsair ram, evga gtx 670SC 4GB, 1TB Samsung 850 Evo SSD (Not installed yet)

I think I'll wait for Skylake, but I truly hope it is a worthy processor to upgrade to unlike ivybridge and haswell....we'll see!
