Help Deciding on a vintage lens?

Flight1sim

So i was thinking of getting some old manual vintage lenses, a total of under $40 maybe.

Some things on my wishlist, or things i'd like to get are:
1. 35mm

2. 50mm

3. Maybe a Telephoto/Zoom Lens

4. If possible, a Macro/Zoom lens like one of the Rokinon 28-80mm

Thanks in advance, also thanks to @Flyguygamer for getting me into vintage lenses and pointing me towards some terms and companies ;D

Happy to help. I would get the Rokinon and then the cheapest m42 or fd 35 and 50.

If you want a 80-210 f/4 is about $35

I have a bunch of M42 lenses that I use on my 600D and I love them all!

Helios 44m-4 58mm f/2

Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8

Praktica Zoom Auto 80-200mm f/5.6

If you can find a cheap 50mm with a wide aperture it can be a good alternative to the cheaper new plastic stuff

Look at old Nikon and Canon FD lenses. Those can be had on the cheap.

"Minolta MD" lenses leave all other lenses behind in terms of sharpness.

"Carl Zeiss Jena for Practicar" are the best in terms of build quality and precision (aperture mechanism etc.). They go all the way to 1.4 but you have to stop down for sharpness (2.8).

If you want edge to edge sharpness wide open, get Minolta.

If the flange focal distance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flange_focal_distanceof the lens you want to buy is bigger than the flange focal distance of your camera the adapter doesn't need lens elements.

Thus the adaptor is cheaper and has no effect on the image quality.
