Project: Midas Evolution

colinmcr

I began my original Primo Midas build last year and wanted to share with you guys as a new member to these forums, my original log was on OcUK.

Here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18560177

I'm in the process of upgrading from an Asus X79 Deluxe running an Intel 4930k.

My "Evolution" of "Primo Midas" will involve changing to an Asus Z10PE-D8-WS using Intel Xeon V3 2.2Ghz 14 core CPU's which are engineering samples.

"Primo Midas" was always built with Folding@Home and BONIC in mind, I crunch for OcUK. Also I thought it would look "beast" once I watercool it again !

More money than sense  ;)

There are are a lot more images on my original log, I didn't want to post too much here.

I work in the offshore industry and am away from home a lot, so this is how I spend my free time and my money. I did try to get some sponsors onboard but I guess I don't have much exposure yet plus I really need to improve my photo skills.

Simply because I want to, no other reason. Its more the about the look, rather than the need.

  • 6 months later...

Long time but I've been so busy with house renovation and working abroad just never have much time, I've got to the point of bending hardline but I was finding it rather frustrating and ended up working on a different build. I've promised my folding buds that'll have it working soon... Not much to show and tbh I'm maybe gonna finish it in soft tube just to get it back folding again, its been sat idle for too long. Maybe when I get time to practise more harline bending I'll finish it properly.

  • 4 weeks later...

To get the build finished and working again and after some of my hardline fittings cracking and leaking !! I went back to soft tubing except for the line from res into cpu1 inlet. System is running and busy working on compute projects for BONIC and Folding@Home.

I didn't want to run the risk of the collars failing again considering the cost of the hardware.
