Etekcity Scroll X1 Review (Budget gaming mouse)

MattTheMayor

Hello! This is my first review.. ever haha. In this thread, I will be reviewing a budget gaming mouse from Etekcity, an infamous brand. This is called the Scroll X1 which is a laser mouse.

Looks

For 10-15 bucks, I wouldn't expect anything fancy schmancy. I would be expecting to see something similar to the G100s by Logitech. Well I was totally wrong.

This mouse is a thing of beauty. Looks like something that would cost 50 smackaroonies for. Here's some pics:

One thing that I liked was on the USB, there was a cool design. I was about to say it was stupid because some USB ports are flipped, but to my astonishment, I see the same design on the other side!

Here's a pic of the bottom. Plastic feet, but it shouldn't matter too much on a mousepad.

The mouse also has a breathing effect. Pretty nice

+9001 for the looks! Even the cable is braided!

Build Quality

The build quality is just A++. Everything feels sturdy, and the clicks are smooth and clicky. Even the DPI and forward/back buttons are soft and clicky.

One thing I would say is that my right click sometime squeaks whenever pressing. But it only happens once in a while.

Overall, the build quality is superb for the price. Would even say it's even better than a Deathadder Kappa

Feeling

Sounds gross, but it feels great.

The mouse is Matte with the sides being glossy. There is some rubber padding on the sides for your thumb and pinky finger, it is placed perfectly on the mouse where it grips onto your fingers and feels very smooth

Here's a pic

The scroll wheel also has the mini rubber grip padding.

The mouse also fits like a glove! I have huge hands and I use palm grip, my fingers fit perfectly onto it.

Lighting

Yes it has the breathing effect. But the mouse also offers different colors to represent DPI

Green is 800 DPI, Red is 1600, and Blue is 2400

Cons

Here's some cons I've found while using the mouse

- When PC is on sleep, the scroll wheel LED will stay on.

- The scroll wheel LED will only stay red, even if I change the DPI

- The mouse will not move on the screen without a mousepad

Overall, this is a great mouse with great build quality, feeling, lighting, and looks! I would totally recommend this to someone who is starting to join the PC gaming world.

Thanks for reading my first ever review on.. anything x]

Not bad for your first review, decently thorough.

One thing I noticed is you forgot to mention that it's a laser mouse. That's important.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

MORE REVIEW!

Finally figured out where to get the driver. The software is very easy to use. Although there aren't that much options

Able to make macros and bind some commands

This part can control your sensor. I really like it

The software is very to use :)

I recently got the scroll E1 by them, and it's basically the wireless alternative to that. It doesn't have the lights, only a single blue LED in the scroll wheel that flashes when on low battery, and it has an extremely ergonomic design. the 2 downsides are that it's entirely plastic, but the top where the buttons are is soft-touch. The wireless dongle is small, like a Logitech or other brand one. (It only seems to connect one device, unlike the new Logitech or HP ones) It doesn't have any branding on it, but the glue connecting the shell to the actual "guts" of the dongle is fairly bad, and is falling apart after a few months. I do unplug and plug it in more than most people though, as I use it in our school's desktops. I also use X-Mouse button control for remapping buttons, as it is free and what they recommended on the package.

I was using this mouse for a long time and really liked it. The braided cable was nice and it held up well to daily use.
