Nice pics :)

P.S. The nice thing about the GTX970 is it was a lot of noise about nothing in the end ;) (from a performance POV)

15 fps but it works

and 3,6GB VRAM usage doesn't even seem to bother it much.

that's because when it comes to games it averages out the usage IIRC unlike the DOS benchmarks that were shown.

regardless the 4k benchmarks don't lie and I'm sure that Linus said the GPU will run out of computing power before it runs out of memory...

unlike my R9 270 that's constantly stuck at 2gig and can't use all its GPU power

Stick with it, too early to tell if you'll need better card and wait to see what AMD have to offer. If you have to sell your card and get a 980 or 290 8gb

I have the same and will be holding off till next year, by the time SC is out we should have Pascal which should be going from 28nm to 16nm FinFET, skipping 22nm due to all the production issues its had (Maxwell was originally supposed to be on it I think) making it a very interesting proposal. TMSC are teasing double the gate density of 28nm and 40% faster at the same power consumption or 60% less power at the same speed and Broadwell (14nm) is already showing what the 14/16nm process can do with a smaller jump compared to Haswell (22nm).

That's what I'm thinking anyway ;)

Well, it runs fine. The hangar hits the 3.5 cap and stays there.Arena Commander uses far less VRAM.

That's because the stuttering is over exaggerated thanks to the internet, when you go over the 3.5gb cap the game still uses the first 3.5gb.

I'm not saying it doesn't exist but IF the game had to access each sector once the average speed would be equivalent to roughly 6150MHz which is about a 1 fps drop (my science isn't exact)

But as I keep saying the 4k benchmarks don't lie and I have a feeling if there was an issue Slick and Linus would've said

I haven't seen the effect in game yet but in Kombustor the framerate drops from 80+ to around 50 when you load all 4 GB of buffer. It's there. Shadow of Mordor can experience some stuttering when using the HD texture packs at 1080.

As I said I'm not saying that it doesn't exist but if your maxing out a game i would expect issues and I think shadow of mordor requires 6gb of vram anyway IIRC.

That what a pc game should look like anno 2015! not like those crappy console ports.

And finaly a game that WANTS to make me spend 2K+ on a new system.

Nice pics!

Let's agree to disagree

970 ain't bad, but Star Citizen was using 3.6GB Vram at 1080p, so....yea.

To be honest, by the time the PU is playable, we will have the 1080 or whatever the next gen is called.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket with the 980.

Yea I've had no noticeable issues with mine going over 3584MB apart from most of the time there isn't enough processing power when you get up there xD But from what I've read it seems to be fairly engine dependant e.g. the guys at PCper were saying in BF4 it still feels smooth but in COD:AW it noticeably stutters, I've also seen a SLI setup running FC4 at around the 3.8GB mark silky smooth.

A lot of the hardcore stuttering complainers I see are either people running at ~20fps (to fill the memory), running right up to and even over the 4GB mark (no duh your going to get stuttering there) or have stuttering even well below the 3.5GB mark (system issues), it seems you really have to pay attention to all the details of how people are testing it when looking for real life issues and from what I've seen they are there, they're just not as common as some people make it out.

Its also worth noting that SC doesn't seem to have much in the way of options for reducing memory usage ATM, on my system going from very high to medium results in something like a 100MB or less drop (in the hangar) and by the sounds of it people running 1080p are using about as much memory as I do at 1440p, on the flip side there are also more/higher resolution textures and details yet to be put in.
