Is it just me or... (CS:GO Ranking Discussion)

HowToGaming

Hi all,

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that everywhere I go, I see people complaining about how difficult it is to get out of silver?!

Don't get me wrong, I have never been a Silver 1, so I wouldn't know (Not that I am that good of a player, I am currently Nova 3, my highest rank being MG2) But I have a question to ask anyone who knows. How DOES the ranking system actually work?

I hear my friends complain about hey they have 10+ wins in a row and 30+ wins in total, and can't get out of Silver 1?!

I think that it is not about how many games you win, it's about how consistently good you are and not about how often you win a match.

Do not quote me on that, I have no idea, but I helped my friend get out of Silver 1 in 3 games.

Maybe it is actually stupidly difficult to get out of Silver, but from MY past experience, most of the people who moan about how hard it is to get out of Silver 1 are actually not all that good.

But hey, who am I to talk, I've never been below SEM, but I would like to hear your thoughts on the subject, and if you are a Silver 1 yourself, is it truly a challenge to get out of silver? I don't want to start a war here, but I find it easy to get out of Silver (From boosting my friends), that might not be the case for you, but it is for me. Please share your stories and opinions here :)

Uhm, my brother went from 1.6 to cs go, and he did the 10 matchmaking games and he went right to nova 1, he was never a silver, but he owned really hard those 10 games, so yeah, ranks represent how you play, if you play good, you're gonna go up.

I keep telling my friends that if they devote their time and effort into improving, then they will eventually rank up. Simply playing the game can improve you slightly, but the real deal that ranks you up is in the hours of practice that the higher ranked players put into the game.

Ranking is based on your kdr, kda, where you are on the leaderboard, how much you win or lose to the other team ie 16-0 16-14 and who you play with. Its also based on a elo system also

They are pretty good at determining your skill. If you are silver and didn't intentionally drop, you probably deserve where you are + or - 2 ranks.

It's very vague, but it's actually a fairly good estimation. You don't need to win games in a row, or lose games in a row. It's just how you've been doing.

To be fair, I started out in GN4, so I can't really say, but in all honesty, if your friend is stuck in silver, he belongs there.

If anyone needs help on getting better, I'd actually enjoy helping them, provided they actually wanted to learn and spend time practicing. I'm currently MGE (the double AK), so I'm not the best, but I can certainly help someone get out of silver.

Well said. I agree.

There's no magic trick, play good, be on top of the ranks, die the least, and you'll go up. My brother went really fast to sheriff and now he's having a bit of a hard time to go up to eagle.

They are pretty good at determining where you belong + or - 2 ranks. My peak was MG2 over 60 games (roughly)

If you don't intentionally drop and maintain silver for a while then you are a silver. Plain and simple. Elo hell does not exist.

My best advice is to accept criticism.

And NEVER look downwards while walking idly. Always keep your cursor where an enemy neck/head would be.

You can get out of silver just by DM. Just play aim training bot maps for a few hours a day and in a week you'll easily be out of silver. Getting out of Nova 3/4 or higher requires some gamesense, your best bet to get to a high rank is to queue with 5 people

Currently I'm SEM, I've been as high as MG2 and as low as Silver 3, your rank really just depends on how much time you put into the game

I have hard time getting to silver from gold nova haha. People are so bad sometimes that winning 4v5 is not a problem.

10+ games I a row and still no progress ?! Something has changed since I was silver last time (early last year) or they are really bad. Have they tried to go lobby with friends and rank up that way ?

If you dont like hackers then try ESEA, CEVO or Faceit. Less players so easier to manage cheaters plus 128 tick servers

Well I still think the rank system isn't right. I've won 6 games in a row, 4 of which I had the highest score of both the teams, and I still didn't level up from silver 3.
