@ReTV Below is my gimped as hell rig. It's not actually functional because the $60 tripod can't take the weight - it's counterweighted with bricks at the moment, but even so I couldn't mount the follow focus, or microphone, or even extra rails without the whole thing falling over. Replacement tripod should be here next week.

Shot in my studio which has sort of become my spare bedroom as it's the only room in the house with air condition.

Camera - Canon EOS 550D (to be replaced with BlackMagic URSA or similar. Awaiting NAB to see if BM comes out with a HyperDeck Shuttle capable of recording 4K, or an updated URSA that takes SSDs).

Tripod: Inca something. Ball head. Not useable for video. (Replaced with a Manfrotto 509HD head and sticks combo, which just shipped yesterday).

Teleprompter: Prompt-It Maxi w/ iPad 4

Cage/Handheld Rig: Kamerar TK-3

Screen: Aputure IPS 7"

Dolly: Some generic one, if it works with the new tripod, I'll modify it for a track so I don't have to bust out a slider or skate dolly.

-snip-

Dat bend in the tripod legs :D . I have a "Soligor Video Tripod". It's lightweight and lasted for 7 years now. Only the quickrelease is flimsy as hell. I consider switching to the Miller "Air" - it just seems perfect for me. I really appreciate the internal counter-weights (I don't like putting 15mm weights on my rig).

The URSA just makes sense for at least a 3-person crew. It's overkill for a small production. The BM Shuttle is considered the direct competitor to the Ninja Star, i.e. a small and affordable rec, I highly doubt it will ever support 4k ;) . Shogun is the way to go (or internal 4k with something like a GH4).

I have a crew for commercial work, in the long run it'll save me in camera rental, while giving me a cool piece of tech to play with at home.

No reason 4K recording can't be small, not hugely fussed on affordable given theres no way it can be as expensive as buying terabytes worth of CFast cards. It would make sense for Black Magic to update it to support their 4K cameras.

Shogun is nice, but is bulky, I'd buy CFast cards and use the URSA internal recording before buying the Atomos solution. Am seriously considering getting an electrical engineer to create an SSD to CFast adapter and praying that the firmware will be compatible, because I really don't want to spend $10k on storage media.

My little rig :)

RED Scarlet-MX

Zeiss OTUS 55 1.4

Wooden camera cage

V-Mount batteries

Also a fan of my DJI Ronin Gimbal. The RED fits in here fine, but I had the Blackmagic Pocket camera in there at the time of the photo.

I have tons of other lenses and stuff, and a couple of Blackmagic camera bodies, but they just sit mostly..

I feel a bit undergeared with just my 70d but as usually just do in front of the greenscreen videos I don't really need much else.

-70d + 18-135

-Sony NEXF3 + 18-50mm

-Zoom H1

-Generic shotgun mic

-Generic Green Screen Kit (3 lights a big green sheet)

-A bunch of other photo accessories that usually travel with it

I think the 70d will be getting replaced soon as I want something that is more stream friendly but here it is sitting on some half falling apart tripod as I try and make my monday video.

Hi friend, does "ninja 2" solves the problem of a6000 overheating while recording?
