Basically what you did was configured your Dell with a crappy video card which lets you go have a crappy gaming experience and now you're blaming Dell for building such a crappy computer? The specs on that Dell are consider high-end. Configure with a better GPU and the power supply will automatically change to a beefier one. I've seen a few Dell XPS befores those with LED lights and what nots, when a hig-end GPU is used, they use their server grade PSU, which don't use standard 3 prong plugs 99% of us have. Instead they use the C-19 type. That Dell you have is a great PC, with that 280x you've installed, it's even better. Buying a new board and other stuffs, seriously you're just wasting your money on getting rid of that "Dell" branding. Upgrade when Skylake-S arrives.

this was over a year ago and i am trying to fix it, i did not know better when i got it, and i actually did not get ripped off too bad, i got it for only $850

while most people says DELL psu is crap, it's actually far better than unknown brand from unknown source

believe it or not, I've deal with lot's of crappy PSU, and DELL OEM definitely not one of it.

well i have a cx600m now because the dell one did not support what i needed

I don't have experience with their newer desktops, but their older ones were pretty well made. I have three of them still running well (they have had parts replaced but not their motherboards, coolers, and cases)...

I am also someone who has upgraded a prebuilt (when i baught the prebuilt, i was not ready to build).

Some people may scoff at it but I am glad you have turned it into a good system. Just use it and enjoy it no matter what anyone says. My system does what I need it to do pretty well and is pretty responsive (thank you SSD and quad core)

Hey, look at the bright side, an i7-4770 is pretty decent.

yeah, it works great for me. I dont have to worry about temps and such, but now that i have a better motherboard, i may try and monkey with the multiplyer

so, here is a bit of a mini update, i currently have rma'ed my ssd, and r9 280x, but i still have some new parts that i swaped in, so here is a bit of the process, i will be cable managing some time this week when i get a 5.25" bay to 2x2.5"+1x3.5" drive adapter.

 

Yes it is potato quality, i only have my ipod 5 to take pictures on.

Na, keep it in there. I did the same then soon realized I needed an optical drive. Unless you are 100% sure you don't need one don't remove it.
