1st build-gaming-(GB)£500 budget, would like suggestions

I am looking for a bare bones build, with good capacity for upgrade, which will run most games at 30FPS on normal/mid setting. I have an OS , a decent mouse and basic keyboard already and I am planning on using a TV I have as a monitor initially, . I have done some research and this is what I've got so far http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/michael90Cr/saved/NZfRsY I am willing to go over budget if it provides better performance. Any suggestions for parts to switch out would be welcome. No previous experience, so any other tips would also be appriciated

I tried adding an i5 but it would go way over budget.

I saw that, but it was only ~33 over, right?

For £7 more he can get an R9 280x and front USB 3.0 headers as well as a better case. He's also better off getting a single 8gb stick leaving him the ability to uprade to 16gb in the future.

You can step up to an R9 280x instead of the 280, but IMO the h97 + i5-4460 combo is worth it. Besides, if you have some spare cash, you can just throw the 280x into this build.

An R9 280x over a 280 offers a lot more than an h97 board over an h81 board. An h97 won't affect performance at all, and theres very few additional features to warrant spending the extra money towards an h97 board.

This is killer. It'll run most games at 55-60FPS high. I might go a little higher on the power supply though just in case.

This is probably the PSU I'd recommend:

I tend to replace GPUs over the lifespan of the computer, so yes you're right now, but I'd still personally prefer the h97 since it's barely more expensive.
