My XFX Radeon R9 295X2 8GB is only able to go up to 75 Degrees, is that its maxium

I can't tell if my case just doesn't let enough air move though the raditor or if its a software issue, so it reaching AMD Casalyst's peak temp of 75 but from a few other places it seems like theres, for one doesn't get near that and secondly other cards of the same basic design eg the 290 and 290x can reach 95 which is a huge difference, and also just to note I used the auto dectect to install the drivers

Specs just incase they help

Remember to follow your threads :D

If it only goes up to 75 degrees, isn't that good O.o That card IS factory water cooled, so it should have those temps  :)

Just be happy, and try OC'ing your card and see if that rises the temperature, since it seems you want it to be higher...

I think he is saying it crashes after 75c? If not maybe he wants it hotter because it is cold where he is from?

You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?

Ok sorry for not being clear, I was in a rush at the time.

My issue is that I wanted to push as much proformance out of the card as possible and I wasn't sure if I was able to with the current config (I felt like the software mite have been limiting the hardware to be more exact), however I have come to the conclusion via other reseach that I just need more ventalation as huilun02 suggested eariler, so on a final note if anyone has a fan type and/or fan configuration suggestion I would be happy to hear it.

.

Post something more useful instead of just a .

Isn't your card already pushing all the performance it can give with pretty decent temperatures?

The stock versions of the 290 and 290x went upto 95 degrees C because they had a bad cooler cooler. This resulted in noisy operation and it also meant that cards used to throttle down their clockspeeds in order to prevent overheating. It's not "the same basic design", it's a totally different cooler.

The aftermarket coolers of these cards, as well as the stock cooler on your card the 295x2 does not have this problem as they are able to keep the GPU at much lower temperatures without even needing to throttle back the clock speeds. This is a good thing.

You should not be trying to increase your temperatures.

That will not push more performance as you want, it will limit performance if you manage to get it upto 95 degrees C.

Regarding the drivers; go the Catalyst Control panel and go the Information tab on the right and check the catalyst version. As of now the latest version is 14.12 which is what you should want.

The Problem he is having is that the r9 295x2 has a temp target of 75°C! Which cannot be set higher and at which the card starts to throttle. This is due to the fact that the pumps have a max operating temp of 60°C.

I would suggest high pressure fans in push-pull on the rad, to get max overclocks;)

Plus more ventilation of course

This. The Target is LOCKED.

So it's add cooler airflow and see if you can keep the clocks higher, for longer..., or be happy it works just fine at it's current speeds.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
