230T Motherboard Bending

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

The motherboard standoffs are permanently attached, though.

I'm not sure about another RMA, either. The staff here in Singapore (sending the case to the next service center, Taiwan, will cost me the price of the case) are really incompetent, and I'll probably get a case with the same problem all over again.

Oh they're welded in place after closer inspection only a few are completely removable, I'd take a pair or calipers and double check to see if they are taller than the rest or if something is up with that case since corsair is pretty good at quality control, this is the first time I've heard of this happening.

If you want a DIY solution a metal file and an hour will fix the problem you just need to be careful of the threads and clean the shavings very well afterwards, just make sure the threads are long enough before filing.

Recently (late last year) I got a 230T from Corsair, in Singapore. Everything about it was great, but the problem was that the rear I/O panel didn't line up, as in the picture below:

Is this normal? I got an RMA, but the rear I/O turned out exactly the same way. Since I had to RMA it in Singapore, the case might have been from the same batch, and this doesn't really seem normal to me. I measured it, and the motherboad standoffs on the top of the case are about 3mm higher than the others, causing this problem (I think the factory mixed up some of the standoffs.

All the stand offs in the 230 T should be the same height except the ones I circles in re which are longer due to depressions in the mobo tray. I would contact Corsair ask the for a package of standoff if you can or get some replacements that are the correct height.

Yeah :( I did, and they're definitely a different height (I looked at it on a level surface, and measured the distance the motherboard was from the motherboard tray through the CPU cut out)

The thing is that I already RMAed it, the guy there insisted that there was nothing wrong with it and that it was a motherboard problem. However, Corsair already issued me an RMA ticket so he had no choice but to give me a new one.

I might resort to that later on, but this isn't a huge deal. I can live with this, since I don't need to use the top two or three USB slots anyways

If worst comes to worst you can take off the rear IO shield if you don't want to RMA it and leave it, just make sure it's not over stressing the motherboard.
