How to switch between multiple audio devices (Windows 8)

JoshTheTrix

I have a razer usb headset and regular speakers. How do I switch between the two, because my headset takes precedence over my speakers and I have to unplug the headset in order to use my speakers. Is there a way to do this within windows or is there any software that you guys reccomend?

go to sound, playback devices, and select your speakers and make them default. and disable your headset, then reverse etc when going the other way

right click on the volume indicator in the bottom right hand side of your screen, click "sounds" then go to audio output devices, and choose which device you wish to use by selecting as default, (right click, select as default)

Soundswitch. It works awesomely for me. Set it up to use one of your keyboard keys to instantly switch between audio outputs.

Audio Switcher is another option for easy switching. Note, you don't NEED to install one of these, they just make switching take fewer steps.

The stock process is Right Click on the speaker in the notification area > Playback devices > Select which you wish to use > click the Set Default button

You could also create a sound shortcut so you can cut out the hassle, just search a how too on google, usually the 1st result.
