I have used furmark in the past, but there are some rumors that it can destroy cards because of the high load level.
Sounds like crap to me, but is this true?

it does

 

it forces the VRMs on the GPU to run way above the normal voltage

 

and that is why it can kill GPUs

 

much like Prime95 and Haswell CPUs

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
