"a free state" refers to the US being free from the oppressor (Great Britain). People had to keep guns in case the Brits would come back and try to reclaim the land. It has nothing to do with protecting themselves from the US government.

In Finland you can own pretty much the same types of weapons than in America and here it seems like it's not a problem at all. The only difference here is that you have to ask your local police dep for a gun purchase permission, which requires you to explain what you'll use it for (hunting rifle=hunting ar15=tactical practice or competetive shooting). Is it just that they're easier to get?

People don't want the Government to know who owns the guns, because then they can easily come and take them if they ever became tyrannical. It'll also leave the law abiding citizens without guns and the criminals with illegally obtained guns with guns.

the amount of shit that is wrong with people baffles me. i swear, i play my satanic black metal at volumes that the nieghbors have called the cops, i do vulgar obscene shit. ive gotten close to murder. ive lived in this ''hood'' for almost 6 years. ive seen cops just sit and whatch while thier fellow oficer gets shot and killed.

I'm fine with it, I don't think banning them will help anything and more mental screenings or whatever wont help either. You can buy a gun and a year later get pissed and kill someone... I just think there should be a registry of who owns what thats available to the public. that way I know if my neighbor has 20 rocket launchers at his house
