TRIM Samsung SSD in Macbook Pro

LarsReviews

What should I do about the SSD in my Macbook Pro? It is a Samsung Evo 840 and I have never trimmed it. There is a freeware to fix that, but it goes to deep into the system.

Is there something like a USB Software I can boot from to Trim it from time to time?

If you mean enable TRIM, Google 'TRIM Enabler,' there's a great free Mac app.

The problem is, there is a security feature in the OS that blocks that app. It can be disabled, but it can also cause problems with the system.

You mean the 'unidentified developer' thing?

Go to System Preferences - Security - allow apps from 'anywhere'

This isn't a security risk, it just means you can use apps whose developers haven't payed Apple to allow installation with GateKeeper enabled.

Just disable it, it's not a big deal at all
