Required display method for DSR

I have a 1080p HDMI monitor and I know that HDMI allows up to 4k res at 24Hz with monitors. If I use nvidia's dynamic super resolution to boost my resolution, at 1440p for example, will I be able to get 60Hz refresh rate through HDMI (since it is not "true" 1440p) or am I going to need to use a DisplayPort?

Afaik the monitor only receives a 1080p image and therefore you could alsp run vga if you'd like.

DSR only takes effect in games when your adjusting resolution in the settings menu. But any input method should be fine.
