Question about compatibility with R9 295x2

bobby12345

Hi guys, I am thinking about buying an R9 295x2 but I have 2 compatibility issues I am worried about.

1) is that I have an i7-2600 so I only have a PCIE 2.0 and was wondering if that would bottleneck the R9 295x2

2) is that I have an Antec EA-750 Platinum, I checked the power chart but I not sure if it would work with the R9 295x2

Thanks!!

You should be fine. Pcie3 is compatable with pcie2.

And it draws 500tdp, so having a good psu is crucial. The one you have already is sufficient.

EDIT** Make sure to not run them on the same rail, this could lead to a shortage, make sure the dual 8pins are on different rails. (pretty sure about this, though could be wrong, someone else feel free to step in and put me in my place if i'm wrong)

1. yes, the PCIe is fine

2. I'm uncomfortable about it but leaning towards yes. You have to make sure without a doubt it is plugged into +12v rail 3 and +12v rail 4 as the 295 wants a minimum of 23 amps per rail. As far as the system and everything on 750w I want to say yes but really short on breathing room based on this.
