How'd you get into Tech?

Guest

How did you get into tech? I personally have always been a tinkerer and loved computers. After I started watching LTT, I was a goner. As a bonus, what's some stuff you do outside of tech? For example I hunt and love to shoot. How about you?

Linus was the person who made me realized that there's a lot more to life than just a box that plays games.

Watching his videos made me realized that there's a lot of cool tech out there.

Same here - I loved tech since I knew how to read (and so type), but I never had explored tech into as much detail as I have if it wasn't for that one google search...

I've always been into DIY stuff like working on cars.  I've also been a gamer since i can remember.  Naturally the two came together when my old desktop was struggling to run World of Warcraft at 5 fps on low.  So, i started looking into ways to improve my PC, a couple Newegg, and Linus Tech Tip videos later and I was hooked. Now after building my PC and a helping a few friends build theirs I've got two money pits to deal with, cars and computers.

My brother was always into computers, with that influence, my curious 11 year old self decided to get into tech as well. I mainly started watching mobile tech reviews, but then in March 2012 (same month I wanted my own PC) I checked out recommended channels (only time it was useful lol) I stumbled upon LinusTechTips. I liked his most current vid (some orange backpack review), so I decided to check out the rest of his videos, and I got hooked. In October 2012, Unbox Therapy started his UGPC build. That's when I bought the first part of my PC. (HAF 912) and thus Black Widow was born. Going back 5 years, I was extremely tech illiterate, I even asked another one of my brothers for an SD card to add more RAM lol

ETA: I looked for the first LTT video I watched, it was the Everki EKP120 Titan Checkpoint backpack unboxing.

Started off playing diablo II on a computer when I was like 8 or somewhere around there, had set up a 2nd computer we had laying around by myself around then too (I only connected the monitor, keyboard, etc..) so I could play it on there and have my dad play with me on our other computer, and eventually moved on to buying my first laptop and set up our homes wireless network also by myself, not sure how I managed to figure it out, I just did, and have continuously been getting more and more involved in technology since then, currently I've got a Computer Security Professional Certification, and Network Professional Certification (both through Testout), and will be getting my A+ certification also through testout on Wednesday.
