Youtube Slow, Is there a fix?

My Youtube has been really slow lately and I know that it's definately not my internet speed because everything else loads fast like Netflix, Vimeo, and Steam downloads. On Steam my average download speed is 5.1 MB/s, I finished installing Saints Row 4 in about 20 mins, and it isn't running when I'm on Youtube. I'm running Firefox as my browser and nothing else is ever running if I'm on Youtube.

Can you explain more, is it just not buffering well, or issues with the video? I have issues with Firefox right now on Win 8.1 x64, it just won't function on Youtube. Try using IE, or Chrome, see if the behavior is any different. I reported my issues to Mozilla, haven't heard back yet. Btw, for me FF refuses to buffer more than 20-30 secs at a time, causing intermittent 500-1000ms pauses, and it also warps a lot, it really struggles to playback correctly.

 

If you absolutely must stick with FF, trying using HTML5 instead of Flash in Youtube settings.  Though I may be getting a little ahead here.

If its stuttering right click on the video, settings and untick enable accelration

do "ipconfig /flushdns" in CMD and clear your cache+cookies of your browser

It's a buffering issue, it would load 5-10 seconds then stop, i would move the player back to the beginning and then it would load another 5-10 seconds. Sometimes it would load almost the whole video then stop. Other times it would just refuse to load all together and I would have to keep refreshing the page over and over until it loads.

If absolutely everything else is working fine, try a different browser, see if there's a change. Also when doing so you may need to update Adobe Flash (for IE, in Chrome it's built in), make sure to do that. It helps to know if it's just Firefox. And did you trying using HTML5 in Youtube's settings?
