Pump?

Vypr

I am going to be doing my first custom water cooling loop soon and I just wanted to get some feedback on the pump selection.

I'll be cooling my CPU and GPU in a tight area (not much excess tubing), what kind of pump can I get away with that would cool everything and be near silent?

You could either do it like me, get a cheap pump like the EK DCP 4.0 and spend tons of time trying to figure out how to properly shut it up by dampening it, or you could get a Laing D5 or DDC. All of those will be more than strong enough to cool your system, but for silence you're going to have to dampen them properly. You'll also need either a PWM/variable pump or a pump controller for real silence.

Noob here too but i'm pretty sure D5 pumps are nice. My EK D5 with XTOP seems amazing

get a variable speed pump  the D5 Vario is nice with a 3 Part setup you could easily get away with running it at speed 2 for reference  anything 3.5 and below is silent at around 1 metre

D5 Vario is always the best, but I think you could get away with DDC

what case?

H440, a lot of recommendations for a Laning D5. I may just do that, I don't know.

Yes, use D5 Vario, dead silent, with speed control.

I put it in every build and nobody was complaining about it.

I've used D5s in both my loop and my wife's. Dead quiet in both loops. Went with the AlphaCool HF D5 tops (clear acrylic) on both as well and getting good flow out. Look around for the lowest price as everyone rebrands the same pump so there's little difference between brands. Personally I use a Koolance PMP-450 -- it tends to be priced lower than the other brands from what I've seen.

I went from a EK DCC 4.0 to a D5, and the difference is huge. Go a for a D5, even if you update your loop the pump will be enough.

The combo EK res + D5 vario is great.
