120/140mm fans

Can i actually fit the NF P14R on the heatsink? Hyper 212 evo?

Also, the S12B is 120mm, while I can fit a 140mm.

The NF-P14r fits just fine as long as you don't have tall ram in the way. The NF-s12b provides about as much airflow as the NF-P14r while being quieter when airflow isn't being very restricted.

Hey

I find my airflow to be a little bit too bad in my Define R5, unless I run it at max speed(not loud, but definitely not silent either). I would like to get some fans for it, and these are the fans I considered:

AeroCool DS 140 Red 2 front 1 rear.

NB eLoop 120mm 1900rpm as heatsink fan on a CM 212 Evo, possibly one in the bottom as well(depends if the powersupply will allow it, getting a new on soon)

Are these fans good? I am mainly going for silent/quiet gaming. Heard the eLoop is insanely quiet even at 1900rpm, and the same about the Aerocool ones.

CPU: I7 4790K(4.6@1.252v)                               Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Windowed(Black)           Cooler: CM 212 EVO + NF F12 iPPC

RAM: HyperX Fury 1600MHZ CL10 2x4GB      Storage: Samsung 850 EVO(250GB) + WD Red(2TB)      PSU: Corsair RM750 (and no, it hasn't blown up!)

MoBo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger                      Graphics: MSI GTX 970 TwinFrozr (1494MHZ Core)       OS: Windows 10 Enterprise

Why don't you try putting that new fan on the back and put the included 140mm at the front so you have 2 fans intake and 1 out? I'm using that set up on my R4 and its super quiet and cool.

Probably wasn't clear enough, I only have the stock fans, 2 of them and then 1 fan that came with the cooler, on the cooler. I am considering buying these fans, I don't have them.

Wasn't clear enough on my end too. What I meant was, get teh 140mm as they are usually more quiet than 120m, then use that as a out-blower at the back of the case and move the included 140mm to the front so you have 2 intakes. Honestly, I don't think one intake is enough on the Define case.

(Moving the included 140mm is for nothing but aesthetics :P)

Aha, I see. Well, what I asked about is what fan is great? I only use 120mm for where 140mm is not available, meaning on the cooler and on the bottom of the case. Of course I will use the 140mm fans where ever it is possible. All I want to know, is what fan is better in the 120/140mm range. So far, it looks like aerocool fans, noctua fans and noiseblocker fans are the best. I just don't know which one to get.

I say in best to worst (all are great tho) Noiseblocker, noctua, aerocool.

Another good option is ap121 and ap141

I could not find the AP141, however I did find the AP121, what 140mm fan should I go for then?

Can you link us to where you're shopping? There may be better alternatives we can suggest.

Noctuas are both quieter and better built than Noiseblockers. AP121/141's aren't that different from Aerocool DS.

I prefer to buy from these places:

Dustinhome.dk : 59dkk shipping

Komplett.dk : usually the most expensive, but free shipping and great sales

Proshop.dk : sometimes the cheapest, almost always free shipping with few exceptions

Computersalg.dk : 25dkk shipping, usually the cheapest.

And for price checking, i use pricerunner.dk or edbpriser.dk

The thing is, noctuas are ugly and expensive. That kinda puts me off them.

Also, my limit for price is around 150dkk per fan, otherwise it doesn't feel like it's worth it.

Sorry for the late response--the tab was buried under other things I've been meaning to respond to and I've been a bit busy lately.

NF-s12b redux for rear exhaust: https://www.komplett.dk/noctua-nf-s12b-redux-1200-120mm-blser/816926

NF-P14r for front intakes and heatsink if ram isn't too tall: https://www.komplett.dk/noctua-nf-p14r-redux-1500-pwm-140mm/816923

If the ram is too tall to fit a rounded fan, use a F12 pwm co instead: https://www.dustinhome.dk/product/5010644324/arctic-f12-pwm-co
